This second generation "G2" lens builds on the success of the SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD (model A011), which was launched in December 2013 and continues to successfully meet the needs of ultra-telephoto photographers. This new 150-600mm G2 version was developed to offer superior optical performance combined with the current high resolution DSLRs and adds further improvements to a number of features, including AF speed and accuracy and VC (Tamron's image stabilization). A number of completely new features have also been added such as: flex zoom lock mechanism, moisture and dirt repellent fluorine coating and optional dedicated Tamron 1.4 and 2x tele converters. The 150-600mm G2 lens delivers excellent performance in a durable metal housing and also has a luxurious appearance.
