24.1MP Stacked Sensor: The EOS R3 is equipped with a 24.1MP stacked CMOS sensor, which offers exceptionally fast readout speeds, significantly reducing rolling shutter distortion and enhancing continuous shooting and video recording. The back-illuminated design of the sensor ensures efficient light gathering, resulting in reduced noise, higher clarity, and smoother colour rendering, especially in low-light conditions.
DIGIC X Processor: Complementing the new sensor, the updated DIGIC X processor supports high-speed shooting up to 30 fps with an electronic shutter, 6K 60p raw and 4K 120p video recording, and intelligent Dual Pixel CMOS II autofocus with Eye Control AF. The processor also enables a broad sensitivity range from ISO 100-102400, expandable to ISO 50-204800, for varied lighting conditions.
Electronic Shutter: The stacked sensor design allows for an electronic shutter function that can shoot continuously up to 30 fps with minimal rolling shutter distortion. The electronic shutter operates silently but can be paired with an audible shutter sound for feedback. Manual shutter options include a top continuous shooting speed of 12 fps and a flash sync speed of 1/250 sec.

6K Raw and 4K Video Recording: The EOS R3 excels in video performance with high-resolution 6K raw 12-bit internal recording and uncropped 4K 120p 10-bit recording with Canon Log 3. It offers oversampled DCI and UHD 4K shooting for improved sharpness and reduced noise. HDR-PQ recording is also supported for in-camera HDR production. The camera features both mic and headphone ports and a micro-HDMI Type-D port for clean external recording.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II: The enhanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system features 1053 automatic AF points, providing fast, responsive, and precise focusing. It can intelligently recognise and track subjects, including eyes, faces, animals, and vehicles, maintaining sharp focus throughout burst captures. The system is sensitive down to -7.5 EV for accurate focusing in low-light conditions.
Eye Control AF: Re-introduced from the film era, Eye Control AF allows shooters to initiate focus simply by looking at the desired point through the viewfinder, working seamlessly with the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system.
Sensor-Shift Image Stabiliser: The In-Body Image Stabiliser (IBIS) corrects unwanted camera shake, particularly useful in low-light conditions and video recording. It can compensate for up to 8 stops of camera shake when used with lenses featuring optical image stabilisation.
