Advanced optical engineering
Inside, the lens features a sophisticated optical construction of 18 elements in 13 groups, including 1 FLD element, 5 SLD elements, and 3 aspherical elements—one of which is a large-diameter aspherical. This design minimizes chromatic aberration, distortion, and other optical flaws while maintaining incredible sharpness and clarity at every aperture setting.

The fast F2.8 maximum aperture is consistent throughout the zoom range, making it a strong performer in low light and ideal for hand-held shooting at weddings and events. A rear-mounted filter holder allows users to insert ND and other creative filters with ease.

As part of Sigma''s Art line, the 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN is built to exacting standards, with a barrel crafted from Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) and precision-milled aluminum components. Both materials expand and contract at similar rates, ensuring mechanical stability even when shooting in extreme temperatures.

The internal zoom and focus mechanisms keep the lens length constant, which is especially useful for gimbal work where balance is key. Rubberized control rings provide smooth, tactile operation, while a durable fixed petal hood protects the bulbous front element from accidental impact.

Rear filter convenience
Because of its large curved front element, the lens cannot take front-mounted filters. To address this, Sigma has integrated a rear filter slot, compatible with lightweight glass or gel filters the size of an SD card. These small inserts are less prone to damage or dirt, and a cutting template is included for creating custom gel filters.
