The Canon RF 10-20mm f/4 L IS STM is an ultra-wide lens that is designed to deliver professional-quality results for a variety of photography and videography needs, including landscape, nature, architecture, and interior imaging. As a versatile, full-frame L-series lens, it provides stunning visual drama to your imagery, ensuring that your photos and videos are not just memorable but also of the highest quality.

The optical design of this lens is highly advanced and incorporates one Super UD element, three standard UD elements, and three aspherical elements. This design helps to minimize chromatic aberration and distortion across the entire zoom range, while also ensuring consistent edge-to-edge sharpness and illumination. Furthermore, the lens is equipped with SWC and ASC coatings that reduce lens flare and ghosting, thereby improving contrast and colour accuracy.

Complementing the imaging capabilities is a fast and precise autofocus system, which delivers quick, nearly-silent autofocus performance with full-time manual focus override. A built-in Image Stabilizer compensates for up to five stops of camera shake, and when paired with an EOS R-series camera that has In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), the Coordinated IS system allows for up to six stops of camera shake to produce sharp handheld shots in difficult lighting conditions. A unique Control Ring is also integrated into the lens design for intuitive control over exposure settings from the lens itself.

This lens is designed for use with full-frame Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras and offers an ultra-wide-angle zoom. It has a constant f/4 maximum aperture for consistent performance and light transmission throughout the zoom range. The lens features a quiet high-speed STM leadscrew-type focus drive system, which is beneficial for video users. It also has one Super UD and three UD (Ultra-Low Dispersion) elements, which help to minimize chromatic aberrations and colour fringing for greater clarity and colour accuracy.

The lens has three aspherical elements to correct spherical aberrations and distortion for improved sharpness and accurate rendering. It also features advanced ASC (Air Sphere Coating) and SWC (Subwavelength Structure Coating) technologies to reduce flare, ghosting, and other aberrations.

An Optical Image Stabiliser is included to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to five stops, making it possible to work in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds. When paired with an EOS R-series camera that has In-Body Image Stabilisation (IBIS), the Coordinated IS system allows for up to six stops of camera shake.

The lens has a configurable Control Ring that can be used to adjust a variety of exposure settings, including aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation. It also has a minimum focusing distance of just under 10" at all focal lengths, making it ideal for unique ultra-wide closeups.

As a member of the esteemed L-series, this lens is sealed against dust and moisture, making it suitable for working in inclement environmental conditions. The design of the lens accepts rear insert-type gelatine filters, which are cut-to-size and inserted behind the rear lens element. The lens has a nine-blade diaphragm to create a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality, and a built-in petal-shaped lens hood.
