This combination also delivers excellent audio for YouTube videos, influencers, and creators.
Equipped with a new and improved high-performance microphone system, TRESMIC II, the LS-P5 delivers expanded frequency response stereo sound capture, and high-resolution recordings in Linear PCM or FLAC 96kHZ/24bit format. This device contains three built-in high-performance directional microphones capable of guided Zoom control. Balanced adjustment of each microphone's directionality makes it possible to reliably record original sound sources from low to high frequencies, capturing delicate sounds exactly as you hear them. The device is equipped with functionality that mixes input from the three microphones and adjusts the directionality in 21 levels while maintaining audio quality. Additionally, the microphones feature sound pressure resistance levels up to 125dB (SPL), making it possible to record distortion-free sound sources across a wide dynamic range, from loud music to birdsong and lectures.
The LS-P5 offers Bluetooth® technology for connectivity with Bluetooth® compatible devices. The free DVR.Remote smartphone app (iOS and Android) can be used to remotely operate the recorder easily from a smartphone (up to 10m/30ft), ideal for reducing handling noise while changing settings during recording. The recorder supports a maximum sampling frequency of 96 kHz and linear PCM recording at a quantization bit rate of up to 24 bits (three times the information of that on a CD). It also supports lossless compression FLAC recording and playback format for retaining high quality sound while maintaining file sizes 30% smaller than PCM WAV. In addition to the high capacity 16GB internal memory, you may record to an optional microSD card without the worry of running out of space when recording for long periods of time. Additionally, you can manually adjust the recording level so that it records at the optimal S/N ratio in accordance with the volume of the source sound. The user can also fine tune the level while reviewing the recording level meter on the LCD display and the peak display indicator for a greater level of precision during recording.
The new "Bright Sound" mode offers clearer recordings of spoken words while vlogging, during lectures, or meetings. Recording with elevated mid to high-range levels make it possible to capture audio while minimizing the effects of ambient sounds. In addition to the Auto and Manual recording modes, the LS-P5 now offers a new Smart Mode. By holding and pressing the Record button, Smart Mode sets the optimal recording level for the environment and sound source by performing an automated "sound check". Size, Connectivity and Memory
Despite being equipped with three high-pressure and high-performance microphones, this model maintains a compact, easy-to-carry size at 39.6 x 112.2 x 16.1 mm (WHD), weighing approximately 78g (including batteries).
On top of its 16GB internal memory, the LS-P5 features a MicroSD XC I storage slot up to 2TB and a USB micro-B connection. A Composite USB Audio Mode (USB Microphone Class) is available for direct connection to PC or Mac. Prefect for improved audio quality while working from home during online conferences calls or live streaming. A standard 1/4" tripod thread is included for easy connection via a hot shoe adapter (sold separately) to attach to your camera of choice. Audio connection to a camera is simple, just connect a 3.5mm cable from the headphone out on the LS-P5 to the MIC-IN of your camera of choice. Both MIC-IN and LINE-IN are available (switchable in menu) to allows you to connect additional microphones or connect to other audio equipment. The LS-P5 is packaged with two AAA (NiMh rechargeable) batteries which can be charged via USB, providing up to 37 hours of battery life.
Additional Features and Accessories
Not only can you record with the LS-P5 on its own, but exclusive accessories such as the KA-335 3.5mm Audio Cable (sold separately) can be used to connect to a mirrorless OM SYSTEM camera with an input jack for use as an external microphone. Attach the SM2 Shock Mount (sold separately) between the camera hot shoe and the LS-P5 tripod adapter to suppress camera operation sounds and vibration noise for even higher quality audio recording. For recording outdoors, the WJ-2 Windshield is available separately to eliminate wind noise. In addition to using the LS-P5 to collect sound and record audio on the camera, you can record in PCM as a high-quality original sound source, which can then later be incorporated into the video during the editing process on a computer. It also supports Slate Tone and Test Tone, which are convenient when incorporating audio into video for high-quality video production.
